Pushing the Limits Podcast

Pushing the Limits  by Lisa Tamati

When I set out to start a podcast I wanted to do two things.

To have on the show extraordinary achievers  and experts in the fields of sport, business, health and medical science. I wanted to create a show that went deep into the psyche of those who had mastered a specific area in order to share their wisdom and to empower and educate my listeners and my tribe.

I also wanted a platform from which to share my life experiences, the learnings I have made and to teach.

This is a show that just like me, can't really be be put into one box.

It's not just about running, not just about health, fitness, nutrition, weight loss or mindset and personal development. It's not just about high performance, success as an entrepreneur or in business or about controlling your physiology so you can achieve great goals.
It's about ALL of these but more importantly it's about YOU reaching YOUR potential as a human being and all the facettes that that entails.

I am curious being always searching out mentors and coaches in all the areas of my life I want to work on and I believe there are many others out there like me who want to make the best out of themselves and their lives. Who want to open their mind to new information and ways of thinking, to new ideas and new philosophies that can positively impact their world

It's about gleaning the gems of wisdom from the incredible guests I have on the show, short cutting the learnings from them for my listeners. These episodes get deep into the psyche of our guests.

It's also about being real, being vulnerable, about sharing our deepest darkest moments and about triumphing over the failures. About pushing through obstacles and being honest about our challenges, problems and setbacks.

These interviews are a no holds barred, often raw and very genuine look into the minds and experiences of people who I respect and admire who have something important to share. Who have much to teach us.

My guests so far have come from all walks of life, all professions and genres from top Athletes like: Dean Karnazes - the most famous ultramarathon runner of all time, New York Times Best Selling author, philanthropist and speaker talking about his adventures, how he pushes through the fear and pain to conquer extraordinary feats to people like Ray Zahab and Charlie Engle - Adventurers and extreme athletes who have pushed the boundaries of human endurance. Crossing the entire Sahara for example in 111 days covering over 7500 km not to mention dozens of other deserts and the polar regions.

To Mark Ingles - The first double leg amputee to climb Mt Everest, para olympic medalist in cycling, author and business man to Sir John Kirwan - Famed All Black, Rugby Coach and mental health advocate.

Guests also from the genre of health science like Dr Bill Andrews - Nobel prize winning scientist on anti-aging to Dr Lindsey Berkson - world renown hormone scholar and author of 21 books to Dr Scott Sherr - Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy specialist to functional medicine Doctor, Dr Susan Oldifield and celebrity Nutritionist Ben Warren to epigenetic specialist Dr Cam McDonald or Sport Scientist Dr Steve Stannard.

Then there are the everyday heroes, people like the late Samuel Gibson who suffered from Osteogenesis Imperfecta or brittle bones and who despite his debilitating condition lived a life full of adventures and pushing the limits to Extreme rock climber and survivor of a horrific brain injury after a climbing accident, Author Paul Pritchard
To Best selling authors like Chris McDougall author of Born to Run one of the most important running books of the past decade.

Then there are many solo casts where I get to share my knowledge our running, extreme sports, sport psychology and beating the odds.

This is a show dedicated to improving the lives of  and empowering the listeners. It's about the sharing of great ideas and disseminating important information.
So if you are into all of the above, the running, the latest in health breakthroughs, functional medicine, high performance and sports psychology, successful entrepreneurs or if you love a good adventure and a great story told by masters then this is the show for you.

We would love it and be so so grateful to you too if you could share this podcast with your friends and networks and give us a rating and review. It goes a long long way to helping the shows ratings and getting our message out there to the people and we love to hear your feedback. You can write to the team at

Keeps it real! Makes total sense. Knows her stuff as she has lived it. Blatantly up front and non of that wish washy stuff.

Always great guests, great insights and learnings that can be applied immediately for every level of experience.

Motivational and Inspirational

I am getting my mojo back with regards to my health and running after treatment for breast cancer, I connected with Lisa as I was looking for positive influences from people who are long distance runners and understand our mindset. Lisa’s podcasts have been a key factor in getting me out of a negative space where I allowed others limiting beliefs to stop me from following my heart and what I believe is right for me. After 18 months of being in cancer recovery mode I wanted to get out of the cancer mindset and back to achieving goals that had been put aside. Listening to Pushing The Limits has put me onto other great podcasts, and in the process I have learnt so much and am on a pathway to a much better place with my mindset and health. Thanks so much Lisa for doing what you do and always being you.
